Chicago Theatre Marathon – Fundraising Video
Hello, my name is Cassandra Rose and I’m running a… Oh god. It’s a marathon. It’s the Chicago Theatre Marathon. Hello, my name is Cassandra Rose and… Hello, my name is Cassandra Rose and I’m running… Oh god. I’m running the Chicago Theatre Marathon. My legs are like jelly. Let’s go sit down. Like over there. Just go over there. Hi, my name is Cassandra Rose and I’m running
a marathon. The Chicago Theatre Marathon, specifically. This is going to be a weekend of 26.2 hours
of new work. That weekend being July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. We’re going to be doing this at Strawdog Theatre Company’s new space which is at 1802 West Berenice Avenue. Oh, that tastes like Chicago. But before we can run a marathon, we gotta
do a 5k. That’s where you guys come in. We’re trying to raise five thousand dollars
so we can make this marathon the best it can be. Ugh. This is what runners do, right? But why are we doing this in the first place? Well, while there is a lot of new work happening in the theatre community in Chicago, most of those opportunities still go to people that are white, able-bodied, and cisgendered male. We’d like to change that, whatever way we
can. So that’s why we’re offering up our space
to anybody that wants to tell their theatrical story, live for everyone to see. If you’d like to submit your piece to be considered for the Chicago Theatre Marathon, go to www.chicagotheatremarathon.com and submit before the end of May. So join us, won’t you? And thank you. Don’t worry about it, it’s fine.
