Ingrid Michaelson & Deaf West Theatre Present “Hell No” – The Official ASL Music Video

I Shoulda known better I saw her wearing your sweater nice glasses, fake red hair, just like me Stop crying, stop calling, can’t you see that I have stopped falling We were good at faking forever I get it. Whatever. Am I gonna miss you? Hell No! No! Baby watch me up and go Mama said that the boys like you never work out anyway (Boys like you) My Girlfriends say “Are you gonna be sad?” “If he calls you up, you gonna take him back?” I said “Hell No!” No! “Oh Hell No!” I get it Whatever Straight up don’t blame you You’re not the Cash and I’m not the June I’ll never be the one to make you better Whatever. Hell No! No! Baby watch me up and go Mama said that the boys like you never work out anyway (Boys like you) My girlfriends say “Are you gonna be sad?” “If he calls you up, you gonna take him back?” I said “Hell No!” (You gonna take him back?) “Oh Hell No!” In my bed late at night Thinking of how you held me tight And will I be lonely when I wake? Did we make a big mistake? Hell No Baby watch me up and go I always knew that a boy like you wouldn’t work out anyway (You gonna take him back?) Hell No! No! Baby watch me up and go Mama said that the boys like you never work out anyway (Boys like you) My girlfriends say “Are you gonna be sad?” “If he calls you up, you gonna take him back?” I said “Hell No!” (You gonna take him back?) “Oh Hell No!” I get it. Hell No! Am I gonna miss you? Oh Hell No! Whatever. Hell No! (You gonna take him back?) Oh Hell No!

  1. My two favorite musicals are Deaf West's production of Spring Awakening and Great Comet and watching this on a daily basis technically counts as supporting both of them right

  2. thanks for doing an asl video my daughter has tsc1 and she only knows a few signs now cuz she cant remember alot of things.. so thanks i really enjoy learning new signs and you got me to enjoy learning more then i knew before.. slow would be better cuz it goes alittle fast for me to catch all of them.. but others who have been doing it longer prob have an easier time with them

  3. This honestly made me cry. My son has Auditory Processing Disorder and we use sign language to help him understand what we're saying. Seeing the integration of ASL with the music video meant so much to me and him.

  4. I enjoy sooo much the song and the video.
Pourquoi on n'a pas ça en France?
Why we don't have this in France ?

  5. Can someone help me understand how such shorthand can be understood by deaf people? How do you know that a single finger pointing into the palm (just making this up obviously) means an entire word or expression? Or is it used in conjunction with lip reading to provide context? If they didn't speak in this video, would the sign language be sufficient to get all the lyrics?

  6. I FREAKING LOVE THIS!!! I've been interested in and (slowly) trying to learn/pick up some ASL, I think I may try to learn this Sign 'n' Sing! Ingrid is such a phenomenal artist, period, but also seems to be a really phenomenal person from what I gather too. Her works have been supportive of those of us struggling with mental health illnesses, the LGBTQIA community, and other disabilities, while at no point coming across in any way as pandering (and managed to make a super cute and fun inclusive vid).

btw my pansexual heart was so smitten with all the sweet and warm cuties in the vid! XD

  7. I love the way Josh Castille Signed, and his interpretation of Satisfied (Hamilton) 💛💛💛, the best Angelica Schuyler

  8. At least a 4th of the views on this video are just me continuously watching because I'm still so hype that an artist put ASL in their music video lol

  9. Probably the BEST video I've seen in a while! Combining both deaf and hearing into one excellent video. This majes me want to study asl again, I miss talking to my deaf friends.

  10. i notice this and think its really cool but like, since you pay so much attention to the signing you kinda tune out the words and get really immersed into the language over the music. So it really gives everyone the same effect and thats hella rad.

  11. I can't believe I just discovered this!! I love it so much!
(But where's Sandy? 🙁 I mean, I'm not complaining, I'm already so happily surprised with all the other dwsa actors, but i just wish it was everyone, ya know)

  12. so i've seen this video before, because of course i have, treshelle, daniel, josh, and miles all in one place?? please
bUt i onLY JUST SAW THAT MICHAEL FUCKING ARDEN DIRECTED THIS MUSIC VIDEO I'MMMMM

  13. I was first introduced to Ingrid Michaelson by Samantha Bee. Not paying much attention to contemporary music and being in Germany, she was unknown to me. But I have to say, I enjoy her music casually and she seems like an awesome person! Girls Chase Boys was amazing as well! 😀

  14. I absolutely adore this! Thank you so much! Everyone has a voice!!
😂my son just hit the repeat button!
    Thank you thank you
This actually brings tears to my eyes! I love it

  15. Look all the boys in this video are beautiful but the tall one with no facial who I am pretty sure is Josh Castille is just the best person to look at ever.

  16. I had never heard this song before and I watched it almost all the way through with no sound to see if I could get any sense of what the music was like. I got a little bit of a sense of it. This confirms my thought that "ASL covers" done by hearing people can can be very dramatic.

  17. I'm on the east coast. I've been learning sign language for a couple years and thought I was getting pretty good. I didn't realize how different sign language is on the west coast until this video. I didn't understand most of it. I guess I have to study more!

  18. Hello Ingrid, not sure if you will read this: but if you do I just want to let you know how awesome I think you are and talented. You're song really makes me happy! 🙂

  19. And I thought loved this song before- I love it so much more!!! Great job, you guys! I think you a great job making it interesting and accessible for everyone to enjoy! I wish more bands did this!

  20. I dont know why but the beauty in the music and seeing an actual well produced asl music video made me start sobbing so thank you Ingrid

  21. I'm hard of hearing and trying to slowly learn ASL. I live this video but I wish there were a tutorial that went through it slowly!

  22. yay! I love it! We all see body language everyday, whether we are deaf or not. And there are so many of the same postures that coexist with the hearing and deaf alike. I LOVE IT!!!! (just an example….WHATEVER….) 😉
