  9. thanks for doing an asl video my daughter has tsc1 and she only knows a few signs now cuz she cant remember alot of things.. so thanks i really enjoy learning new signs and you got me to enjoy learning more then i knew before.. slow would be better cuz it goes alittle fast for me to catch all of them.. but others who have been doing it longer prob have an easier time with them

  13. This honestly made me cry. My son has Auditory Processing Disorder and we use sign language to help him understand what we're saying. Seeing the integration of ASL with the music video meant so much to me and him.

  23. Can someone help me understand how such shorthand can be understood by deaf people? How do you know that a single finger pointing into the palm (just making this up obviously) means an entire word or expression? Or is it used in conjunction with lip reading to provide context? If they didn't speak in this video, would the sign language be sufficient to get all the lyrics?

  25. I FREAKING LOVE THIS!!! I've been interested in and (slowly) trying to learn/pick up some ASL, I think I may try to learn this Sign 'n' Sing! Ingrid is such a phenomenal artist, period, but also seems to be a really phenomenal person from what I gather too. Her works have been supportive of those of us struggling with mental health illnesses, the LGBTQIA community, and other disabilities, while at no point coming across in any way as pandering (and managed to make a super cute and fun inclusive vid).

    btw my pansexual heart was so smitten with all the sweet and warm cuties in the vid! XD

  46. i notice this and think its really cool but like, since you pay so much attention to the signing you kinda tune out the words and get really immersed into the language over the music. So it really gives everyone the same effect and thats hella rad.

  54. I was first introduced to Ingrid Michaelson by Samantha Bee. Not paying much attention to contemporary music and being in Germany, she was unknown to me. But I have to say, I enjoy her music casually and she seems like an awesome person! Girls Chase Boys was amazing as well! 😀

  60. I had never heard this song before and I watched it almost all the way through with no sound to see if I could get any sense of what the music was like. I got a little bit of a sense of it. This confirms my thought that "ASL covers" done by hearing people can can be very dramatic.

  61. I'm on the east coast. I've been learning sign language for a couple years and thought I was getting pretty good. I didn't realize how different sign language is on the west coast until this video. I didn't understand most of it. I guess I have to study more!

  95. yay! I love it! We all see body language everyday, whether we are deaf or not. And there are so many of the same postures that coexist with the hearing and deaf alike. I LOVE IT!!!! (just an example….WHATEVER….) 😉
