Visiting the Merle Reskin Theatre

Hello and welcome to The Theatre School’s historic Merle Reskin Theatre. When you see our productions, you are seeing the result of student collaborations fully supported by our award-winning faculty and staff. We encourage our students to take risks and to try new things as they develop their artistry. Our students represent the next generation of theatre artists in all disciplines. We hope you enjoy seeing them fine-tune their professional skills as much as we do. DePaul’s Merle Reskin is located at 60 East Balbo Drive at the corner of Balbo and Wabash. Metered street parking is sometimes available on Wabash Ave. The meters are active 7 days a week from 8 AM to 10 PM with a 3-hour maximum. When you arrive, and go through the doors, you will be in the Merle Reskin lobby. The box office is located on the left side of the lobby. After you pick up your tickets at the box office, you will head to the right and have your tickets scanned by a theatre school usher. You will then be directed to the main floor level or up the stairs to the mezzanine level. On the main floor, there is one accessible washroom and additional washrooms located in the lower lobby down one flight of stairs. On the mezzanine level, there are washrooms located on the inside of the seating area in the back on the right, East side. DePaul’s Merle Reskin Theatre holds up to 1,325 people on all three levels. We use the balcony when the DePaul Opera Theatre is performing. For patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing, The Theatre School provides two ASL-interpreted performances per run of a production. For patrons with hearing loss, The Theatre School is equipped with Senheiser Headsets, personal sound amplification devices. These assistive listening devices are available to patrons upon request and can be used for all performances. For patrons who are blind or low vision, we may offer audio description for one performance per play. Patrons who are participating in the audio-described event may also request the program in Braille, large print, and audio formats. To see when these performances are offered, please call the box office or visit our website for a calendar at theatre.depaul.edu. On the main floor, we can accommodate 8 people in wheel chairs. If you require wheelchair-accessible and/or companion seating, or have any other hearing, vision needs, or other access needs, please let us know when you reserve your tickets. Patrons with disabilities and their guests pay only $5 per ticket. Please let us know when you are booking your ticket that you qualify for the discounted rate, or use the code “access” when booking your tickets online. We are delighted to welcome you to our artistic home. We strive for a high standard of patron services and we hope that you will not hesitate to let us know if there is something we can do to ensure that your experience here is an excellent one.
